Semantic transitivity is always hot issue in the field of semantic web and ontology, and has important application value in information retrieval and semantic reasoning. In the history of research on semantic transitivity, single-step semantic transitivity got much more attention than multistep semantic transitivity, multistep semantic transitivity just got referred on the basis of single-step semantic transitivity and is never been studied systematically, the achievements are semantic transitivity rules which are obtained manually easily and the amount of the types is really small.According to the above problems, a multistep semantic transitivity model is proposed in this paper, the model makes Objective Knowledge System as research background and multistep semantic transitivity paths composed of concepts and semantic relations as research content. The model has the capability of finding the semantic transitivity laws of concepts and sematic relations, and provides a method to mine semantic transitivity rules. First, we analyze the structure of Objective Knowledge System as a semantic network, and produce multistep semantic transitivity paths. Then, apply Semantic Field Theory into distribution of semantic domains, and treat semantic relations as binary relations in field of relation algebra to judge effect compatibility of semantic relations on semantic transitivity. Next, by the results already exist in Objective Knowledge System, we figure out that if the result is one of semantic relations of semantic transitivity paths, and adopt attribute selection in data mining field to measure the weight of different positions to semantic results and select information gain and chi-square as the evaluation methods. Next, we regard semantic transitivity rules as decision tree rules, and apply ID3algorithm to mine the semantic transitivity rules from the existing results in Objective Knowledge System. At last, a semantic transitivity reasoning system based on the model is implemented, the rules are put into the system to reason the semantic relation between non-adjacent concepts and run derivatively reasoning based on the rules, and the system is evaluated from three sides.In this paper, a semantic transitivity model driven by data in Object Knowledge System is proposed. We analyze the influence of semantic transitivity elements on multistep semantic transitivity systematically and obtain semantic transitivity rules. In theory, as the first attempt to study multistep semantic transitivity in depth, this paper fills the blank in semantic transitivity. In practice, the model is favorable to automated reasoning between concepts and mining tacit knowledge in Object Knowledge System and Ontology, and increases the accuracy of knowledge retrieval, it’s very valuable in fields like knowledge organizing and information retrieval.
