The concept of embedded systems arised since1971it’s first microprocessor launched. Along with the rapid development of computer technology, communication technology, network technology, microelectronics technology, and the semiconductor technology, it has already developed into special computer system that suits for application system of the strict request and it makes applications as the center. From the original microcomputer era, to the independent SCM era, to today’s embedded microprocessor era, embedded products have been deeply into our daily life and work of all aspects.However, at present there are fewer embedded products based on the wireless Ad Hoc network that is self-organized. In the remote areas, or in disaster areas, or in the temporary warehouse, that the network environment is very poor, or the network facilities have been damaged. There are no networks that can be directly and rapidly used. Then embedded products based on the wireless Ad Hoc networks can reflect its importance.This paper mainly focuses on the hardware design of embedded terminal based on the ARM. The terminal hardware’s circuit is designed through the learning of the hardware circuit design. The emphasis is on the design of the circuit and PCB, especially on the isometric layout of SDRAM. BY improving its software and hardware and evaluating its performance through the finished product’s test, pushing it to the market products.In this paper, it introduces the characteristics and applications of the embedded systems, it also simply introduces the core of it-the embedded microprocessor and the wireless Ad Hoc network. Then design the hardware circuit and PCB by Protel99Se software tools and do a lot of detections and testing to improve the design. In the design of hardware principle, mastering of embedded system hardware’s architecture, and the design of the S3C2440A microprocessor’s hardware system and the design of the terminal’s circuit, are very important in this paper. There are too much electronic components and the pins of microprocessor that we choose, which makes the PCB layout, especially SDRAM’s layout, become another key of the paper. To know well of the wireless terminal’s property and action, a lot of indoor and outdoor tests are indispensable because of its own wireless features.
