The rapid development in computer and communication technology promotes the development of intelligent home network and brings more convenience to people’s lives. So far, it brings some problems to the interoperability between devices in the home network that physical realizations are of different kinds and the standards of the underlying network multifarious in intelligent home network. Foreign research institutions and enterprises also take efforts to research and develop a lot of hardware and software products in this field. However, there is still place to be perfected and improved in cross-device shared, and also the real time control and operation.Based on home environment and combined with the current burgeoning mobile Internet technology, this paper develops a video-based virtual TV platform by researching and analyzing technology of home network, including CEBus, HomePNA, IEEE802.11and other standards. The virtual TV platform is compatible with different network topology specifications, all the different devices are on the same level by the view of the platform. The article studies HTML5Websocket protocol, compares and analyses technical and method of browser-based communication between different end devices. Currently, real-time Web communication is mainly by repeating HTTP request and polling, this cycling HTTP requesting will take up a lot bandwidth, because HTTP header is relatively large, and will have a negative impact on the transmission efficiency. In this regard, Websocket has obvious advantages. Except the handshake part, data transmission is direct on TCP connection.The solution proposed in this paper is based on Websocket, and the platform is of two parts, the server and the client. To make the platform get a better extensions and improved, each part is defined in detail and divided functionally. Websocket server, web server and database are components of server. Websocket server is the core of virtual TV platform, through which messages between devices are processed and forwarded. The web server is designed to process web requesting, and the database stores video data. The client software is divided into three layers:system layer, functional layer and application layer. System layer is designed to manage communications between server and client, and also manage the remote VTV object equipment operation; client mobile is developed with javascript and other front page technology, functional layer acts as the wrapper for the native DOM object and manager of event; As the top layer, application layer consists of some platform applications and application interface opened for developer. After nearly a year, the VTV platform has been done with the deeply research on home network and hierarchically design in software system, which support cross-device video migrating and real-time remote control and operation.
