Measurement Report (MR) has good priority, authenticity, comprehensive, and collecting convenience features, as a result it is more and more popular in network optimization, quality monitoring and evaluation etc. But the mobile location algorithm in WCDMA network based on MR is not ideal. It restricted the MR application. In order to solve this problem, this paper researches in mobile location technologies based on the MR and propose a novel mobile location approach based on MR.The main work and achievements are as follows:1. Based on in-depth understanding of the MR basic algorithm, this paper makes a detail analysis about the mobile location technology in wireless communication system. Through the analysis of location accuracy, cost, communication system performance influence factors, we use RSCP in MR to achieve the distance between mobile and the base station with empirical propagation model. Then accomplish the location. While we also analyze the error that could get in the whole location process. There are mainly three reasons caused errors:MR information, propagation model and the algorithm of mobile location.2. When a small amount of cells(i.e. cells number is less than3) involved in positioning, we cannot mobile position algorithm to solve, only can estimate simply the mobile position using the ID information. In this paper, we introduce a method based on the IMSI information to complete MR data. And also propose an improved single cell location algorithm based on MR, which use antenna orientation and the cell coverage point of view to assist the positioning.3. We make a detail analysis about mobile location, including Weighted Least Square method, Taylor method, hybrid method and Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS) method. We find out that MDS is a robust method which can also provide high position accuracy. In this paper, combined with the current network characteristics of the MR data, we propose an improved weighted MDS location method. On one hand, the method for solving the distance error weighting matrix is improved, so that we can get higher positioning accuracy and have good engineering of implementation. On the other hand, followed by the use of the cell combined weighted correction algorithm and the mobile location correction algorithm to reduce the impact of distance error, so that we can improve the location accuracy. In addition, due to the presence of different cells have the same location, making the W-MDS algorithm sometimes cannot solve the mobile location, therefor, this paper proposes a program which the use of robustness stronger P-MDS algorithm integrated location.Based on the above research, this paper designed a verification system based on MATLAB for the whole location process performance of validating analysis.
