There are many companies offering cloud storage services to enterprise clients and individuals. However, there are still quite a few of companies and individuals refuse to put their data on the cloud servers. There are mainly two concerns impede people to choose cloud storage: The first one is that whether the cloud can keep data safely. In other words, whether the cloud will leak a user’s confidential data to other people or get hacked by attackers. The second one is that whether the cloud will tamper with user data or deny the data user has stored in it. Currently the security is ensured by cloud and the trust is established between users and cloud providers. If the cloud betray the users and tamper their data, the user may find it difficult to prove cloud’s fault. This paper presents the design and implementation of a secure and accountable cloud storage system based on trusted third party. Our scheme relies on a Trusted Third Party (TTP) to detect cloud misbehavior and use indisputable tamper-resistant attestations to prove cloud’s guilty. With the help of access control and encrypt methods, the cloud cannot get the user’s data in clear text. In this way, the user’s data is secured and protected. Furthermore, the actions are finely defined in our system and every action is witnessed by TTP. So the cloud service provider cannot conceal its misbehavior and clients can detect any attempts with unauthorized file modification by malicious cloud servers. Also, a client cannot deny its actions and defame the cloud server. In this way, both sides are protected from false accusations.
