With the development of circuit technology from1970s, there is corresponding increase in the requirement of circuit reliability. Circuit fault modeling and simulation technology grow more and more important and useful. In this background, fault modeling technology has been continuously developed and advanced. However, with the increase of the number of failure modes, the workload of fault modeling and injection will rapidly rising. It becomes a key issue that how to do modeling and injection quickly in the case of few types but large numbers of failure modes. This thesis first presents the background and development of the fault modeling theory and technology, then elaborates the significance of the task.Subsequently, from the standpoint of failure modes, this thesis describes two categories of fault modeling methods, analog and digital, and then describes corresponding fault injecting methods.Based on fault modeling and injection theory, this thesis presents the synthesized fault model. Target on fault simulation under the SABER simulation software environment, the description of fault modeling and injection methods is necessary. The synthesized fault model is core and innovation point of this issue. This thesis describes the method of synthesized fault modeling from three sorts of components:analog two-port component, analog multi-port component and digital port component, and furthermore illustrates the injection method of synthesized fault model. Finally, this thesis realized simulation and analysis of synthesized fault model combined with three instances of actual development under SABER simulation software environment. The results verify the correctness, feasibility and reliability of the synthesized fault modeling theory. At last, this paper proposes program of improvement and optimization tasks.
