With the rapid development of Internet, instant messaging tools have become one of the indispensable tools for information exchange in people’daily life. Currently at home and abroad instant message tools such as Tecent QQ, Microsoft MSN, Google Talk and China Mobile Fetion are serving for hundreds of milions users. In addition to the vast personal instant messaging market, in recent years, the needs of the enterprise instant messaging is also growing. For the reasons of convenient management, internal communications, website sales, after-sales support and other reasons, the enterprise needs its own instant messaging system.The problems faced by the enterprise instant messaging system:1)in order to establish their own instant messaging system, commonly used methods to solve the problem is to install an instant messaging system, which will bring high hardware and software purchase costs and maintenance costs.2)Most of the instant messaging system use their own proprietary protocols to communicate, which lead to non-interoperability between the various systems.In this context, we have done the following works. We design a SaaS-based system for general instant message, which is based on SaaS platform, and provided to the enterprise as a service. The system is easy to use and without installation. Meanwhile, in order to achieve the system’s versatility, we propose a design based the XMPP message processing model, which is mainly responsible for the functions of messages received and sent. It follows the XMPP standard protocol to achieve the purpose of intercommunication with other istant messaging tools. Finally, we propose a design for Comet-based server push module. The module is based on the publish/subscribe message distribution mechanism and can flexibly send messages to various users interested in these messages.Based on the works above, we have implemented this system. And then, we have done the test. By analyzing the result, we can conclude that our SaaS-based system for instant message can effectively promote enterprise communication, and the expected research goal is achieved.
