The development of communication technology has raised new demands for the components of the communication system. Since the band-pass filter is a key component in the communication system, the performance of communication system is limited by the band-pass filter. The research in this dissertation focuses on the RF MEMS switch tunable band-pass filter, which can be described as follows:Firstly, the first chapter introduces the research background and significance of the K-band MEMS switch and tunable filter, and the research sketch of RF MEMS tunable filter. And in the second chapter, some theories and model related to RF MEMS switch are introduced. These theories are the basis for the next step in the design work.Secondly, in the third chapter, the design methods of microstrip are introduced. The structure, electromagnetic characteristics and phase velocity are proposed based on the basic theory of microstrip. And then the basic designs and analyses of coupled-microstrip are proposed. At last, the lump components which are made from microstrip are proposed and the design and simulation of the MEMS tunable filters is based on these basic design methods.Thirdly, in the fourth chapter, from the perspective of the RF MEMS varactor, one tunable band-pass filter based on varactor diode is proposed, which includes a band-pass filter based on coupled-microstrip structure. Simulation results show that good performances can be obtained for the filter.Fourthly, two K band RF MEMS filters which are made of capacitive MEMS switch are proposed in chapter5. The simulations are implemented on these two K band RF MEMS filters and the differences between these two K band RF MEMS filters are investigated. Finally, the researches in the project are summarized in chapter6, and future work is prospected.
