Compared to traditional fieldbus, real-time industrial Ethernet has been widely applied in the field of industrial control, owing to its fast transfer, data capacity, real-time and high reliability. Throught Independent designing of EtherCAT master communication controller, EtherCAT technology was introduced into the CNC system (CNC) to realize numerical control systems and servos’s high-speed, real-time data communication. The research projects have a positive impact and promote of EtherCAT technology in our manufacturing. The main contents are as follows:Explore the research background and the characteristics of the real-time industrial Ethernet, pointed out the advantage of the EtherCAT’s research and application at home and abroad by compared.Study the EtherCAT technology, depth research the EtherCAT protocol, which include system architecture, data frame structure, addressing mode, clock distribution, communication mode, state machine and application layer protocol. Analyse the overall system structure, design EtherCAT master communication controller’s hardware schematic and complete the hardware circuit development. In system software design, Using the Xenomai and RTnet build a real-time network system and develop protocol stack of EtherCAT on this system. Completed the DPRAM protocol to realize communication with the EtherCAT master and CNC.Build system test platform, using the Lokshun’s SDS9-6CNCH system and SANYO servo system to test EtherCAT master communication controller, including real-time, synchronization and reliability. Test results show that:the EtherCAT communication controller was in line with the EtherCAT protocol and met the system requirements.
