With the rapid development of information network and embedded technology, video surveillance systems are widely used in production and living, but there are still some problems to be solved. In this paper, we design and implement a wireless video monitoring system based on the OMAP3530to overcome the limitations in deployment of traditional wired video surveillance network. In order to save the video file to obtain the information afterward, many schemes increase the memory space, but it is an expensive way.This design from the video file itself, improve storage space utilization, design an efficient transcoder based on the spatial down-sampling methods.,In this paper, we propose an OMAP3530based wireless video surveillance system. Softwares on different layers are developed under the DaVinci reference software framework. First embedded Linux kernel porting and driver upgrade is conducted on OMAP3530hardware platform and Codec Engine framework is built. Then, the software in application layer is developed, including wireless video surveillance oriented video capture, encoding and RTP based network transmission. With the combination of AODV protocol and iptables, an Ad Hoc network applicable to wireless video surveillance is constructed. In the meanwhile, by analyzing the received RTP data stream, the storage of the surveillance video is realized. Each functional module is tested to verify the validity of the system. For long-term storage of the video files, a spatial down-sampling based transcoder is designed during the post processing of monitoring video file, saving75percent storage space. At last, we analysis the advantages and disadvantages of the video surveillance system, sums up the unresolved issues, and propose some further researches on video surveillance system in wireless network.This paper discusses a video surveillance system in wireless network based on OMAP3530. Main work and contributions are concentrated in the following:transplanting embedded Linux system and peripheral drivers on OMAP3530to building hardware platform which suitable for wireless video monitoring system. To get a higher video compression ratio, designing video capture process using V4L2technology, encoding the captured video in H.264on the embedded platform. Based on RTP protocol, a h.264data encapsulation method is proposed, making it possible to real-time transmit video in wireless network. Proposing a method of setting up Ad Hoc network combining AODV with iptables so that the system can quickly, easily and efficiently deploy, in order to use it in emergency monitoring, mobile monitoring and other fields. A transcoder based on spatial down-sampling is designed, to compress the video file and saving about75%of the surveillance video file storage space without information loss to achieve the purpose of long-term preservation. Implementation of this system has practical significance and application value.
