Modern war is information war. Against this background, the information construction and information warfare capability of our coastal defense artilleries become more and more important. The information-based commanding system for coastal defense artilleries provided sufficient theoretical proof about combat theories of coastal defense artilleries and information-based commanding system, and then realized it with computer hardware and software. The main research achievements include two aspects of content. One is the result of theoretical study, which includes having constructed the theoretical system of information war for coastal defense artilleries, having used "network group model" commanding mode for coastal defense artilleries, having innovated the information-based commanding system for coastal defense artilleries, having perfected the information-based reconnaissance sub-system for coastal defense artilleries, having developed the basic patterns of battles and drills for high-tech wars, having verified the construction need of information-based system for PLA artillery, providing theoretical proof for coastal defense battles and the information-based commanding system. Besides, with the help of sequential decision theory, Kalman filtering and "four points center" prediction method, we improved the firing accuracy of moving targets on the sea. The other is the result of technical research. We have developed the information-based commanding system for coastal defense artilleries. This system is composed of seven sub-systems, which are intelligence information collecting sub-system, intelligence information processing sub-system, battlefield intelligence demonstrating sub-system, general commanding sub-system, individual commanding sub-system, company firing commanding sub-system and network communication sub-system. This system takes coastal defense artilleries headquarters as the center, taking battle commanding software as its basis, linking it’s components with the help of digital communication network. We integrate reconnaissance intelligence processing, commanding decision-making, data calculation and information transmitting. In the aspect of early warning, we have completed the transformation from "near" to "far". In the aspect of battle mode, we have completed the transformation from an individuate island battle mode to chain islands battle mode. In the aspect commanding means, we have completed the transformation from the "tree-like" to the "flat network-like" commanding mode. In the aspect of information battles, we broaden the field of vision, and improving firing accuracy and range. With the development of this system, we can greatly promote the capability of early warning and reconnaissance, contort and command, firing reacting and long-distance attack for coastal defense artilleries of PLA in modern wars. The first ever computerized commanding system can surely play a significant role in information construction and improving the Information warfare capability of our chain islands artillery troops.
