Target tracking system in the last ten years is given great concern by scholars, engineers and technicians in the safety management departments, national defense, scientificresearch institutes, colleges and universities, and are widely used in the terrain contourmatching, image navigation guidance, battlefield investigation of Surveying and Mapping,counter-terrorism and prevent terrorism, urban security and so on.Along with the continuous development of science and technology, the increasingly highdemand for the tracking system is prompting the target tracking system toward thedevelopment directions of small, accurate, clever. In target tracking system, because ofneeds for fast、accurate、real-time processing a large number of digital video signal, DM642processor become the preferred and mainstream. The proposed target tracking system is designed based on the DM642processor. Detaileddesigning work includes: First, by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of severaltarget tracking algorithm and its adaptation to the environment, we come to the templatematching algorithm and the average absolute difference algorithm as a core algorithm of thetarget tracking algorithm; Secondly, we have given the target tracking system’s overall design, and the choice of the primary election chips was demonstrated; subsequently, we design of avideo capture hardware circuit in the core of DM642processor, and give each functionalmodule circuit. Finally, the thesis give the large number of experimental data on location, and verifies the system tracking performance by tracking experimental results. The resultsshow that the system meets the needs of real-time target tracking and has good adaptabilityand accuracy.
