Swarm robotic system is one of artificial swarm systems, composed of manyautonomous mobile robots each having relatively simple structure and functions.Being a typical standard problem in swarm robotics, swarm robotic searchfocuses on how to cooperatively search target with swarm intelligence emergedfrom limited sensing of each robot and local interactions between robots. As nocentralized control mechanism exists, the coordination control over swarmrobots for target search is characteristic of functional distribution, timedistribution, and spatial distribution etc. To make it more efficient and makelabor strength decreased in experimental research, a computer monitoringsystem for swarm robots is designed and developed. It is expected to show bothof theoretical significance and of application value.This thesis is supported by the national natural science fund project “SwarmRobotic Search-Oriented Extended Particle Swarm Optimization (EPSO) Modeland Its Applications”(Approved No.60975074). And the main contributionshave been made as follows:(1) The functional requirements are studied and decided for computermonitoring system design, including basic control parameter settings, real timedata collection and display, historical data management, and so on.(2) Based on the requirements for communications from the particle swarmoptimization algorithm, we make construction ZigBee technology basedwireless communication network for swarm robots.(3) Data collection platform is also designed based on ZigBee technologyfor function integration in computer monitoring system of swarm robots.(4) The functional interfaces design is done with increment model methodunder Visual Basic development environment.Results from tests on monitoring system show that the needed functions aremostly met.
