The higher-performance of Microwave/RF devices and systems has been paid attention to with the rapid development of wireless communication technology. The receiver as an important role of radar and RF communication system which it’s performance has direct impact on the entire system. The purpose of this paper is designing to the receiver front-end of L-band radar including low-noise amplifier (LNA), filter and intermediate frequency amplifier (IF amplifier). Based on introducing the receiver’s principle, performance criterion, By comparing and analyzing the main receiver,I chosen one design and assigned reasonable criterion to each device according system performance. This paper firstly presents the relative theory on the small-signal amplifier. Considering the higher-performance of the first stage amplifier in the receiver, A low-noise amplifier working in the frequency range1.6~1.9GHZ has been designed via using Agilent ADS software,.DC bias, stability analysis and matching design emphatically described. This paper also simply introduced the basic theory and performance of filters, three kinds of filter in frequency and performance have been designed with ADS software. The point of this paper was to introduce the design of L-band parallel-coupled filter. At last, based on the basic theory of IF amplifier, two kinds of IF amplifier in frequency and performance have been designed. The paper focused on the basic theory of Automatic gain control (AGC) and used ADS software to design variable gain amplifier.
