Using the motion capture data to create virtual character animation has become a mainstream production technology, and that are increasingly being using in video games, film special effects, medical analysis, product design, education, military simulation and other fields. Motion capture technology recorded the motion data of performers and his body information at the same time, if the figure proportions are different between virtual characters and performers, or they are in dfferent environment, then it will cause distortion to drive the virtual characters by using the motion capture data directly, motion retargeting to address how to reuss existing motion capture data, while eliminating distortion.Based on motion data form BVH files, motion ratargeting adaption3D terrain and motion ratargeting for topologically different characters are researched.A method for real-time human motion retargeting on3D terrain is presented. First, the method based on geometry scaling is used to generate an intermediate skelton. Then a improved terrain adaption method is used to correct the positions of the intermediate skeleton’s root node and end-effectors dynamically. The contraints of target skelteton are determined by using the configuration of intermediate skelton, finally an inverse kinematics slover, QuCCD with joint constraints, is used to generate the final configuration of target skeleton. Expermental results show that this method can improve the skip phenomenon of the target character movement on3D terrain.Motion retargeting method for topologically different characters is researched, and a real-time motion retargeting method for characters between human and biped animals is presented, by introducing the conclusions about the biped animal walking analysis in the field of biomeimetic mechanical, the character leg length is used to set the constraints of target character, and when the end effectors between the original and target character could not be correspond, the method in this thesis genarates virtual constraint bones for adjust the end effector position of the target charcter indirectly, and then eliminating the distortion of movement. The experiment proves the effectiveness of the method.Motion retargeting platform is implemented by using FLTK. And it can carry out motion retargeting and make a good preparation for the further reseach of motion retargeting.
