Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is a new generation network technology that is rapidlydeveloping in the recent years. With more and more applications to the field of military, industryand daily life, the WSNs related research has been the increasingly hot. Distributed detectiontechnology derives from aerospace field and thanks to the development of micro sensors andprocessing chips, leading researcher have done a lot of work in the field of multi-sensor networkssince1980s, which provides us much valuable theoretical literature. The detection of target eventshas always been an important topic of WSNs research, thus the combination of WSNs anddistributed detection is promising. After studying the features, applications and research status, this thesis focuses on the decisionfusion rule of distributed detection in WSNs. Based on the analysis of existing decision fusionalgorithm, we introduce the reputation model to propose the RMB fusion rule. It possessesfollowing advantages:(1) More practical: RMB fusion rule takes the sensor nodes vulnerability and communicationchannel noise into consideration thus it is more applicable to actual application scenarioswhere the requirement for robustness is high.(2) More economical: existing fusion rules require better sensor nodes coverage redundancy, which leads to more cost when deploying the network. RMB fusion rule is able to reach thesame decision accuracy with much less sensor nodes density.(3) Excellent self-adjustment: RMB fusion rule is adjusted automatically according to theenvironment that includes the sensor nodes damage and channel SNR. Therefore, it providesgreat decision accuracy under complicated scenarios. The above advantages are proved by simulations. In the end of this thesis, a distributeddetection system solution based on IEEE802.15.4is proposed. The distributed detection systemsolution introduces cluster based network topology to best utilize the communication channel anduses improved RMB fusion rule to acquire the system decision, which greatly propels the practicalprogress of distribute detection technology.
