The multi-hop network consisted of fixed relays based on radio resource management providesthe technical support for disaster relief and emergency communications. The advantage of relay islow cost, extended coverage and so on. However, the location of relay has a great impact on theoverall performance of the network. This paper mainly studies the extended coverage based on themaximum bit rate, the deployment of relay location and how the transmit power and dynamic rangeof the relay impacts on the coverage of the system. The second chapter describes the research background and foundation of the relay, systemmodel of full-duplex relay and half-duplex relay, as well as system model and advantages ofmulti-hop cellular network. The third chapter studies the coverage extension of multi-hop network. First, the linearmulti-hop network model is introduced, as well as its end-to-end capacity. Then, based on themaximum bit rate the relay transmission strategy of linear3-hop network is studied. The fourth chapter studies the deployment scenario of relay nodes of linear2-hop network, anddiscusses how the change in relay’s position affects the system performance of the network. At thesame time, the half-time division duplex and full-duplex relay modes are considered. The fifth chapter studies a practical FD relay model where both the dynamic ranges oftransmitter and receiver and the level of the residual loop interference between transmitted andreceived signals are taken into account. Full duplex (FD) and half duplex (HD) relaying areconsidered in terms of coverage range. The rate performance of the full duplex multi-hop (FD-MH)scheme and the half duplex decoded-and-forward (HD-DF) scheme is numerically evaluated, wherethe former requires transmit power allocation under the dynamic range constraint. Results showthat there is a tradeoff between these two relaying modes.
