Application Research Of Bar-code And Android Components In Realization Of Food Information Retrievals

In recent years, food safety problems have been intensified more and more, people always want to retrieve the food data information and news related in time before they decided to buy the food. With the rapid development of3G networks and smart phones, the faster transfer rates was bring to mobile terminal, making the smart phone not only is a mobile communication network terminal, but also serves as a mobile internet terminal and data collection terminal which provides a favorable hardware platform support for the food information retrieval mode migrating to mobile terminals from PC terminals.This paper designed and implemented an mobile application called’food guards’ based on android platform, which used food bar-code and android development skills to retrieve food detail informations from the massive datas. The main research content and innovation of this paper is as follows:1) Study a new type of bar-code scanning technology on mobile phone. In this paper ZXing which was provided by Google was an mobile terminal bar-code image processing library have been detailed study. The technology can be effectively used in the field of courier logistics, supply chain management, food safety and other areas, and can effectively reduce devices’costs, solve the problem of inefficient manual input, data collection difficult in remote mountainous areas.2) Based on the new bar-code scanning technology making improvements. The bar-code scanning mode was improved in this paper, which is more user-friendly.3) Research the Android platform application development technology, design and implement a mobile application system based on Android platform which combined intelligent mobile terminal and bar-code scanning capabilities in one set. The food bar-code information can be transmitted to the Web servers timely by mobile terminal, providing an advance way for real-time data acquisition, and data retrieval, the flexibility and timeliness of food information retrieval system is greatly improved and the scope of its’application is expanded.This paper’s study result was tested on real-mobile Huawei U8800+which carrid with1GHz CPU frequecy、1GB ROM+512MB RAM memory and android2.3.5operation system. The test results show that the system can enable users easily to retrieve food informations at anytime and anywhere, at meanwhile, the system also providing some funcitons such as food safety information browsing, users′allergy settings、scanning results collecting and etc.
