Interactive media art is an important part of the new cultural industry, for it is a typical combination of art and technology, which combines effects of vision, hearing, spatial design, light, electricity and other forms. And these various forms produce dynamic effect. Interactive media art is widely used in exhibition, interactive advertising, stage art, performance, interactive games and other fields. China interactive media art has just entered a rapid development stage, but there is still no ready-made gerneal-purpose interactive media design system, which impedes the development and application of interactive media.In this thesis, hardware equipment and software development technology interactive media system involved are firstly studied, and then interactive media art design system’s subsystem functions, design methods and implementation processes are described in detail. In this system, a node-based visual programming model is designed and implemented, and an interactive creation environment of friendly interface, interactive visualization subsystem and a powerful plug-in system are developed. The main parts of this thesis are as follows:1) In order to enhance the intuitive and interactivity of the system, this thesis has studied and implemented a node-based visual programming model. And the main contents include:basic data structure definition, node implementation mechanisms, implementation mechanisms of the scenes, and the efficiency analysis of programming model. This model defines the implementation logic of users when they are doing visual programming.2) With node-based visual programming model as a guide and Qt as a base, this thesis has developed interactive multimedia art and design system, including:interactive creation environment, interactive visualization subsystem and the plug-in structure of the system. Interactive creation environment actualizes the various interactive interfaces between the system and users, which include the file interface, view manipulation interface and scene editing interface. Visual interactive subsystems include:graphic drawing of widgets, management mechanism of widgets, and the execution model of the system. Widget is a graphical representation of the node which is the directly manipulated object in the process of creation by users. The system uses a plug-in structure, and all function modules are integrated into the main frame of the system in the form of plug-ins.3) Based on main frame of interactive multimedia art and design system, this thesis has developed a powerful plug-in system. According to function, plug-ins can be divided into five categories:sounds, images, videos, graphics processing plug-ins and mathematical processing plug-in.This system has a good interactivity and a high degree of openness. Non-professionals can use the system’s existing function modules to directly make visual programming and create interactive art application, while professionals can develop personalized functional plug-ins which can further extend the function of the system.
