The tremendous growth of data not only challenges to the data center, but also brought a series of problems such as capacity expansion, data security, and data sharing for individual users. Because of the explosion, the users need to manage more data and at the same time more storage are needed. Storage is one of the most brittle components of computer which lead to the loss of users’ valuable data. The existing cloud storage products cannot guarantee the privacy of user data. And the demand for data sharing and unlimited data access is becoming intense along with the prosperity of smart phones and tablet PCs. To solve the problem mentioned above, this article proposes to use a variety of communication methods to allow the users access their data in different platforms which is Remote File Transfer System (RFS). The applications run on Linux, Windows and Android is designed and developed. RFS will try to use TCP to connect directly, transmit from TCP, UDP or P2P to maximize the transmission speed of data sharing. WebDAV protocol and some existing system interface are used in RFS. In order to build a prototype rapidly, the open source software such as apache, putty and openssh are widely used in the design. RFS is a supplement and an attempt to the existing cloud storage, for instance, the remote file system is mounted to the local disk to realize real-time access for facilitating the users which also will promote the further study, development and application of cloud storage.
