Bridge is the starting point of road, and road is the extension of bridge. As the crucial and determining site in the road system, the bridge occupies an important position and plays a key role in the modern traffic. The status of the bridge is closely related to economic development and living standard.The Bridge Management System is essential for making scientific, reasonable, and economical decisions, extending the service life of the bridge, and assuring the operation security of the road system. Currently, the study on the Bridge Management System is relatively complete in most of the developed countries, while it is still in the development stage in China.This work was based on a R&D project of Liaoning Datong Road Construction Co.Ltd, namely the Highway Bridge Management System of Liaoning province, and mainly focused on the evaluation module in the System. In this thesis, the national and international bridge appraisal methods were firstly reviewed, and the grey system theory and relational analysis method were investigated. After the possible affecting factors were analyzed and compared, the appraisal factors were determined and the grey relational analysis for the multi-factors comprehensive evaluation was employed. The technical status, safety, and durability were assessed by the min-max matching law, while the adaptability of bridge using analytic hierarchy process. The weight of the factor was evaluated and a comprehensive evaluation module was created. Combined with the actual data of the bridge, the factors were sorted by both single-factor appraisal method and multi-factor appraisal method. Politic factors were also put into consideration, which further improved the validity of the evaluation.The appraisal methods proposed in the study were introduced into the bridge manage system of Datong Co.Ltd and the applications were confirmed by the professionals. The System based on multi-factor evaluation could operate efficiently and generate reliable results, which realized comprehensive evaluation of the bridge and improved the appraisal capability.
