Early bionic swimming robot using motor to drive, exists the problems of low-efficiency, big noise, mobility and bionic degree, the rapid development of new intelligent materials for swimming robot research and development provides a broad space, and its application has wide application prospects in bionic robot field.Ionic Polymer Metallic Composite material is a new material which is suitable for bionic robot development and application. Now, bionic swimming robot’s research mainly focuses on caudal swimming robot, which will lead that it can only do limited movements. In many cases, fish uses the power of pectoral fins to positioning, excellent mobility and stability.Based on the IPMC material as the driver, this thesis designs a kind of small swimming robot system. Using IPMC to simulate the tortoise four legs Periodically swinging (a kind of pectoral fins movement), thus pushing swimming robots. Analyzed mainly factors of influence for swimming robots, and analyze the motion analysis, the dynamic analysis, and its structure design. This swimming robot system design includes:drive system design, ultrasonic positioning system design, infrared communication system design and application of sensor. It can realize the swimming robot localization, communication and data collection. Swimming robot with infrared for communication system can realize the control of PC for swimming robot. And making the data transferred, as well as displaying the data from the PC control to interface graphical.
