With technical progress and economical development, indoor positioning system develops constantly at present. Demand of positioning and guidance increases day by day. Especially at complex indoor environment, there usually needs to determine the indoor position information of mobile termination or its holder. This article researches on S-ID indoor positioning system. The system uses infrared and ultrasonic wave technology, and realizes localization function by trilateral measuring principle. This technology has reduced the insufficiency which exists when using ultrasonic wave technology or infrared technology independently. Besides, it has increased the localization precision, and expanded the localization scope. Logistics laboratory is a simulation of third-party logistics enterprise which realizes functions of warehousing, pickup, storage, distribution and transportation processes. It has constructed an teaching platform for supplying chain with logistics center as its core function.The article first describes the characteristics and functions of university logistics laboratorys, including software and hardware system configuration and their ructions. Then introduces indoor positioning systems, and researches on the hardware constitution, realization principle and measuring principle of S-ID system, indicating S-ID system's localization characteristic. After that, the study focus on basic work flow of the system's application in logistics laboratory, communication way of positioning, application principle, storage monitoring and distribution monitoring process. In the laboratory, signal receivers send infrared at certain internal. However, signal transmitters on the moving objects send out ultrasonic waves after receiving infrared signals. When there are three or more signal receivers have received ultrasonic waves, the position of the moving object can be measured. At the end of the paper, application results, advantages and performance of S-ID system are analyzed, and the system's potential applications are forecasted.Research and experiments show that, S-ID system in the logistics laboratory has well simulated a GPS navigation system. It monitors the entire process of logistics operations throughout the laboratory, which makes managers finish almost all processes before the computers, and has improved operational efficiency. So application of S-ID system in the logistics laboratory is worth studying, and its potential functions are worth unearthing. Through the study of S-ID system's application in logistics laboratory, we can recognize problems and shortcomings in practice. And it will provide theoretical basis for the application of the system in practice.
