Today, X-ray screening technique is widely used in airports, railway, bus terminal, subway, various Business Center, upscale hotels and other places for safety checks. However, the ever-increasing of the hidden security risks make it not suitable for the X-ray original image received from the checking system clearly show all kinds of dangerous goods or prohibited goods which are contained in the luggage, especially low-density objects or liquid stored in the container in hand luggage. These security affairs present great challenges on security equipment. The purpose of this thesis is to study a more effective method to classify common objects and identify common dangerous liquid goods based on X-ray technology. This thesis outlines the theory of X-ray probe, briefly introduces the basic theory of X-ray imaging and X-ray source works, and finds a more practical and effective detection technology for goods inspection and dangerous liquid goods identification in this study. This thesis uses low radiation dose(70keV and90keV) dual-energy X-ray security equipment to test the detector performance, find the best combination parameter values of scintillator plus photodiode, filter materials and ray source, and build the mathematical model of the boundary curve of Fe, Al and Pmma to achieve the material’s initial classification. In research of dangerous liquid goods identification technology, this thesis realizes the matching process of an unknown liquid and a common liquid stored in the database through the determination of corresponding fluid characteristic parameters (density, effective atomic number, etc.). This X-ray inspection method is used to determine whether a bag contains illegal substances and whether the dangerous liquid goods in a container are contraband. The last part is the conclusion and future research directions.
