Research And Analysis On DSR Protocol Of Wireless Mesh Network

Wireless Mesh Networks(WMNs) is a new kind of network which is a combination of Wireless Local Area Network(WLAN) and Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. The network provides large-capacity, high-speed and wide coverage. It also takes the advantage of transmission reliability, self-organization, scalability and etc. Currently, Wireless Mesh Networks has gradually enter into the stage of commercial development and application.WMNs is said to be a special case of mobile Ad Hoc networks. Because of the similarity between Ad Hoc networks and WMNs, most of the WMNs routing protocols which are the original traditional mobile Ad Hoc network improvements derived. On-demand routing is also known as reactive routing. It is only when the data packets need to transmit that start the routing discovery process. DSR protocol is one of the classic on-demand routing protocols of mobile Ad Hoc networks. According to recent studies, considering the characteristics of the network DSR Protocol has a lot of improvements which focus on the defects of WMNs that a single routing protocol for this criterion, a single path, load imbalance, and etc. This thesis is aimed to undertake a comprehensive description of these improvements summary.Firstly, this thesis briefly introduces the contents which including the structure, standards, main technology and relevant application of WMNs. Secondly, this thesis introduce some of the classic classification of routing protocols. Thirdly, focus on DSR-demand routing protocol, then analyzed the advantages and disadvantages. Fourthly, this thesis summarizes four kinds of major improvements which based on routing criterion, based on multi-path routing area, based on cross-layer routing and QoS-based aspects of DSR protocol. Among the many improvements of the four aspects,take comparative analysis of several typical scenarios form a number of improvements separately,and sum up each aspect of improvement.
