Analytical software for electromagnetic compatibility is the tool with which we can use a computer to complete the design of electromagnetic compatibility. It has several advantages such as convenience, minimal costs and short time for development,etc. Geometric modeling is an essential part in the analytical software for EMC. Its simplicity directly determines the ease of use and the field of application of the software. A model’s quality affects the accuracy of results.In this thesis, in order to solve the problem that our analytical software for EMC of the communication system on carriers (vehicle, vessel and aircraft) can only build surface models, not treat with the tiny structure and not calculate the electrically large carriers such as vessels, the solid modeling and the model simplification are investigated in line with the principle of the self-development and meeting the needs for use.The geometric modeling techniques for the analytical software for EMC of the communication system on carriers are studied in the paper. Several primitive bodies and their parameters which are used to build the solid modeling are summarized, and drawing the parameterized bodies is realized. In accordance with the demand, the method which can be used to do Boolean operation between simple polyhedrons is given and realized. Some singular problems of Boolean operation are solved, so that the Boolean operation between bodies can be carried out smoothly.In the actual electromagnetic calculation, the tiny structure and the over large electrical size of the model always result in the larger deviation of the result or that the electromagnetism calculation can’t be carried on smoothly. Based on the related theory of the computation electromagnetism and the analysis of simulation, the principle and algorithm of the simplification which aim at the models with tiny and electrically large structures are given, respectively. The simplification of the two kinds of models is achieved, and the electromagnetic calculation was carried out successfully and accurately.Finally, the interface of interactive three-dimensional modeling and model simplification which has the advantages of beautiful, friendly and convenient has been designed based on VC++6.0and OpenGL development platform. An initial system for the solid modeling and model simplification has been established.
