In this dissertation, passive positioning and tracking technologies based on timedifference of arrival in external illuminator passive radar was studied. Firstly thefundamental components of the illuminator passive radar are introduced, and a detailedintroduction of the TDOA algorithm is presented. Then the location precision isanalyzed, and the factors related with the location precision are obtained throughsimulation. Secondly, the passive coherent location algorithm is presented, throughwhich the range information is obtained. For the sake of increasing the efficiency, weuse a multi-rates processing technology, which includes decimation and filtering.Thirdly, this paper introduces some tracking algorithm for TDOA based illuminatorpassive radar. In this situation, the tracking process is a nonlinear filtering process, sothe Unscented Kalman Filter is introduced, and it is proved that UKF is capable ofpassive target tracking, and the tracking precision is better than EKF. As to the problemof maneuvering target tracking, this paper introduces the UKF based interactingmultiple model (IMM) algorithm. The coordinate maneuvering models such as CV, CA,CT, etc. are chosen as the model set, and the Unscented Kalman filter is proposed tohandle nonlinear of the state model. Simulation and real data processing results bothprove that IMM-UKF has the advantages of maneuvering adaption of IMM and hightracking precision of UKF.
