The ultra-wideband through-wall radar (UWB TWR) has become a keen researchtopic in recent years because of the urgent needs of counter-terrorism and calamityrescue, etc. Through-wall localization can realize an exterior detection without inbreaksatisfying the requirements of person or objet localization behind the building wall orfraise. It is a portable system, which is able to rapidly provide the localization andimaging information.First, the model of TWR is abstracted through the real working condition, then thechoice of the radar transmitted signal and the effect of the wall to the electromagneticwave transmitted is discussed, the way to remove the effects of wall is introduced. Themethod of remove the noise, which includes system thermal noise and white Gaussiannoise, is discussed. Then two methods of TWR imaging are give, including three lineslocation and synthetical aperture location. The simulation is done after the FDTD modelis established. Finally, the outlook of the TWR development is present.
