The LED display is one of the important media in the information display field andhas broad market prospects.TV signal and a lot of video signals outputted by differentvideo playback devices are produced according to traditional CRT monitorsstandards.They can not be directly show by the LED display. To meet the displayrequirements of the LED display, the video signal must be dealt with by LED videoprocessor. So, LED video processor has an important impact on a wide range ofapplications for LED display.This paper proposes an improved contrast enhancement algorithms and designs avideo processor which can meet the requirements of outdoor LED displays according tothe light environment of the outdoor LED display and its requirements to videoprocessor.The algorithm present in this paper is based on human visualcharacteristics.The transfer function of the image contrast enhancement in the algorithmis derived on the evaluations that many people making to the results of manyexperiments.Matlab simulation shows that the algorithms can enhance the contrast of aimage and be able to well keep the brightness average of the image.The video processordesigned in this paper takes the video solution chip,STDP8028,as the core and usessingle-chip system solutions progam with the Silicon Image’s Sli164and AD company’sADV7123to achieve DVI-I and VGA system output.The characteristics of this videoprocessor are as follows,less chip needed,convenient layout,clean board,rich inputinterface,1080p input and output resolution support,and PIP,POP,and OSD screendisplay effects realized.The technology that the video processing part adopted is FaroudjaDCDi Cinema○R,3D noise reduction,and Luma-Chroma separation. So the system hasclear and realistic output screen, stable running, and low cost.
