Eye tracking technology refers to utilizing the detection of some characters in themovement of human’s eyes to complete tracking the process of the change of thehuman’s vision accurately. Initially due to the technical limitations, the development ofeye tracking technology is very slow. But with the great enhancement of the sensortechnology and the speed of the processor, eye tracking technology has gained rapiddevelopment of increasingly sophisticated and applied to more and more areas.Being as one of the most sophisticated product of eye tracking technology,eyetracker is a equipment. which detects and records the changing of some parameters inthe process of observing the outside world in order to achieve the gaze tracking of thehuman’s eyes.This thesis focuses on the design and implementation of the helmet-mounted eyetracker system.Firstly we have built the entire framework of eye-tracking system andintroduced the various parts of the eye tracking system including hardware andsoftware.Hardware includes helmet, PC machine. Graphics card and the DM6446EVM development board, software includes the image processing module, thecalibration module and coordinate conversion module. This three-part has used theImproved Star-ray algorithm,Corneal-pupil Reflection Method, NNPROD,DirectLinear Transformation (DLT)algorithm respectively, the latter two algorithms has beensolved relying on Matrix Decomposition algorithm.Secondly we have built the whole helmet eye tracker systems, image processingmodule and calibration module is integrated in DM6446EVM platform, the main goalof this part is to complete the processing of the eye’s image and calibration work of thefixation point on the wall; he coordinate conversion module is integrated in the imageacquisition card with the PC, the main goal of this part is to complete the finalcalibration work of the fixation point on the computer screen.Finally, utilizing the helmet-mounted eye tracking system we have completed theeye tracking experiment, analyzed the system’s performance and error, and made someimprovements on the system based on experimental experience.
