Mobile satellite communication is a kind of communication technology which has ahuge development space and potential application.The key of realizing mobile satellitecommunication is that the system can isolate the influence of the carrier’s movement. Inthis paper a servo system design and research for Ku frequency band airborne satelliteantenna is introducted.The purpose of the research is to drive the antenna to aim at thetarget satellite rapidly, accurately and stably, and establish a continuous and reliablesatellite communications link.This paper first introduced the general design of the servo system, and summarizedthe system working principle and composition.Then discussed the tracking mode thatthe airborne satellite antenna commonly used, contrasted the advantages anddisadvantages of various tracking modes, and determined to use monopluse trackingmode finally.It introduced the realization method of the antenna stabilization platform,decided to use the method of “external guide” and“own stability”.The selection of thesystem’s key components is introduced and analysed.This paper gives the servo system design and implementation for hardware andsoftware.The hardware mainly includes servo controller, angle coding, polarization’scontrol and power source design. The software includes the programming environment,the overall framework, the main program and the subprogram module design. Inaddition to the servo key technology and algorithm are studied, such as digital servocontrol technique, capture arithmetic, automatic aiming at the satellite, automaticsearching and etc.Finally it gives the test and analysis of the servo system’s performance, gives the testresults and error analysis. Eventually the results proved that the design can meet thesystem requirements and complete the engineering realization.
