Since the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allows UWB(the ultra-wide-band) technology which limited for military radar can be used civilianproducts. UWB technologies get widespread attention and have made a series of researchbecause of their own advantages, one of which is applied to wireless positioning system.The positioning system has the advantages of low power consumption, resistance tomultipath ability, high security, in particular, can provide relatively precise positionaccuracy.In fact the positioning system has a range of application.Study purposes of the article that systematically well-know UWB system positioningtechnology and compare current and effective algorithm. Firstly, the article studies thedefinition of UWB, the generation of UWB signal, channel model, the characteristics ofUWB technology and performances simulation and so on. We reap that UWB systemlocation can not be replaced comparing with other location system in the indoor wirelesspositioning. Secondly, the article studies three wireless location technologies that RSSI,TOA/TDOA, AOA and location model, and analyza the impact of UWB positioningsystem factors. Finally, the article study that three estimation methods that researcher basedon AOA estimates of MUSIC, researcher based on TOA estimates of matched filteringdetection, researcher based on TOA estimates of non-coherent energy detection. The articleputs three estimation methods unfilled to the same coordinate system using the method ofleast squares estimation, and compare three estimation performance through softwareemulation.The results show that, under the two channel that Cm1and Cm2of IEEE802.15.4Achannel model, the highest positioning accuracy of the TOA estimation method of thematched filtering coherent, the higher positioning accuracy of the AOA estimation methodof MUSIC, the highest positioning accuracy of the TOA estimation method of thenon-coherent energy is slightly less relative to the front, but it have a simple and lowsampling rate. So hardware setting is relatively simple.
