Considering the shortage of traditional fire detectors in special facilities such as highraise building, it is now believed that as a substitution video fire detection methods based onsurveillance system and machine vision will be widely used. However, most of the presentvideo fire detection methods cannot eliminate interferences when the scenes becomecomplex, which means there will be so many false and failed alarms when the region undersurveillance turns to be complicated. As a consequence, we in the present thesis firstanalyzed the characteristics of video fire and OpenCV, and then discussed detailed colordistribution, morphological characteristic and moving features. And discussed the algorithmof image recognition of these. At last formulated an algorithm of video fire detection basedon OpenCV.Firstly, we study the method of real time video signal acquisition to get the scenes ofsurveillance region. After that, the video sequences are then pre-processed to get high qualityimages for fire detection. Secondly, according to the data of fire image that we collectedsorting out the new criterion of flame’s color and sharp, through the comparison ofalgorithms.Used the method of background difference for moving target detection of flame.Thirdly, designed a series of algorithm according to the features of flame’s color, grayscale,angle, area. Implementation of the flame recognition. Finally, structured the prototype systembased on the flame of multiple feature recognition analysis. built a fire detection system,including hardware and software. Realized the fire video detection function based on theOpenCV technology, through an example to verify the feasibility of the system. Through anexample to verify the feasibility of the system. This paper is of profound significance onreducing the cost of fire video recognition research and development, improving theefficiency of identification, and easy for commoditization.
