IMS is one of the best solutions for the network integration, which provides a setof standard architecture for multimedia services. IMS architecture facilitates theformulation and implementation of new business. With the rapid development of3Gmarkets and the acceleration of the fixed and mobile network convergence, IMS isimported to the existing network by the three major telecommunications in China, who positively carry out the developments and research in IMS services and thestandardization and testing. RCS is the focus of these telecommunications’ research,so they can provide a range of feature-rich services. In order to extend the applicationof IMS network, and accelerate the deployment and the commercialization of IMSnetwork, this thesis has researched the operational capacity of RCS, andimplementation of RCS mobile client in the Symbian platform. This thesis has analyzed and designed message flow for Enhanced Address Bookand Enhanced Messaging and Content Sharing and File Transfer based on RCSstandards. According to the analysis of these message flows, RCS mobile client’sfunctional requirements have been clear. This thesis references to the terminal devicemanagement requirements specification which is drafted by Open Mobile Alliance, proposes the architecture of the RCS mobile client system and the overall structuredesign, defines the application logic of the message sequence, introduces keytechnologies of the application, establishes a scalable model of conversation, usedesign of hierarchical, and realize the RCS mobile client system. After the test of the application, results show that the function of the EnhancedAddress Book, the Enhanced messaging and the Content Sharing run normally, andthe message flow processing is correct. The RCS mobile client application meets thedesign requirements.
