| 3GPP had initiated the long term evolution (LTE) at the end of2004, which as the developdirection of the next-generation wireless mobile communication. Among many researchbranches about LTE, supporting multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) had becamean important function of LTE. MBMS is a point-to-multipoint service, which sendsinformation to multiple users with the same business demand at the same time. Comparing totraditional unicast transmission, MBMS provids high-speed multimedia service, efficientinformation distribution scheme and achieves the sharing of network resources. Therefore,MBMS is an important function of LTE system and will be the future terminal multimediaservice technology. However, because of the changable wireless channel, high-speed usermoving and limited system resources, the scheduling and resource allocation of LTE MBMSis facing many problems in balancing multicast gain and multiuser diversity. In this thesis, we describe the MBMS theory and network architecture, especially focuse onthe MBMS network architecture and functional nodes in LTE system. On this basis, weresearch the scheduling algorithm of MBMS multicast and evaluate the advantages anddisadvantages of the single-rate and multi-rate multicast transmission. Then, we especiallyfocus on the single-rate multicast transmission and propose an self-adaptive multicastscheduling algorithm, including MMA-PF, GMA-PF and e-MMA-PF algorithms. Finally, by aMatlab system-level simulation platform, we evaluate the self-adaptive multicast schedulingalgorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithms improve systemthroughput without sacrificing user’s satisfaction. |
