In recent years, with the development of mobile multimedia communication technology, therequirement of the throughput of the communication system is increasing. However, frequencyspectrum resources that can be used are very limited. Furthermore, the usage of the wirelessspectrum resources is not efficient. Device-to-Device communication can improve the usage ofsystem resources and data transmission rate, and can reduce the transmission power of userterminal. Therefore, the study of Device-to-Device communication is very important.Firstly, this thesis introduces LTE system, analyses the basic structure and performancerequirement of LTE system, and discusses the key technology of LTE system. Then, this thesisintroduces D2D communication in the LTE network, and sets up the transmission model of D2Dcommunication system, and analyses the performance and the session establishment of D2Dcommunication, and describes in detail the key technology of D2D communication: theinterference control techniques and power control techniques.This thesis mainly studies the transmission mode of D2D communication and the modeselection of D2D communication. Based on the resource usage of D2D communication, thisthesis studies the dedicated mode, reuse mode and cellular mode of D2D communication. Thisthesis puts forward the mode selection algorithm of D2D communication based on themaximization capacity of the system. The simulation results show that selecting the appropriateD2D communication mode based on the D2D mode selection algorithm can effectively enhancethe capacity of system.Lastly, this thesis studies the performance of D2D communication with relay technology.And, this thesis compares the capacity of D2D communication system using relay technologywith the D2D communication system without relay technology. The simulation results show thatthe introduction of relay technology can improve the capacity of D2D communication when thecommunication link of D2D communication is of poor quality.
