Communication signal processing technology based on the FPGA is used to process the signal from the sender or receiver in communication system respectively, which is based on the hardware platform with FPGA. In this paper, the real-time communication between guidance radar and interceptor missile is regarded as research background. Guidance radar controls interceptor missile’s flight path to succeed in destroying the enemy’s targets through exchanging information. Considering spread spectrum (DSSS) technology’s advantages in anti-interference and concealment with the hiding communication requirements between guidance radar and interceptor missile, direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) technology is applied to design this system. This paper is discussed around two aspects. One aspect is communication signal processing based on the FPGA, and the other aspect is communication signal transmission through optical fiber.Firstly, based on Communication system design, the system structure and flow chart between guidance radar and interceptor missile are given. Also the spread spectrum communication technology and the synchronization problem in communication systems are studied. Secondly, the design of the hardware implementation platform is analyzed. Specifically, the paper analyzes the signal acquisition board based on Virtex-2FPGA and signal processing board based on Virtex-5FPGA, and focuses on analysis of RocketIO hardcore’s structure. Thirdly, the paper describes the system software design and implementation. In this chapter, the system is divided into two sections, which one is about the system signal processing and the other one is about signal tramsmission through optical fiber, and the corresponding flow charts are given. Realize system software design with VHDL language, and show the corresponding Modelsim software simulation diagrams. Finally, debug the system to realize the communication process with signal processing board based on Virtex-5FPGA.The results of the hardware test indicate that the communication system design and the communication process design are reasonable, and the system software design is correct. They achieve to realize the real-time communication between guidance radar and interceptor missile through the comparison with the Matlab’s and Modelsim’s simulation results. Through analysis of the resource consumption, the paper also gives the suggestions on how to optimize system design.
