Smart antenna is one of the key technologies in the3G communication system. At present, smart antennas in China mobile TD-SCDMA network were mainly conventional8and6element smart antennas. But the two smart antennas were larger in size and weight to bring a lot of difficulties in construction works, therefore, smart antenna Miniaturization become a hot research.In the same time, the development of the mobile communication System lead to more intensive distribution and the stronger interference of the base stations The multipath effects are seriously. The antenna with the function of down-tilting angle adjustment can improve signal strength and suppress co-channel interference. It also can improve the ability of frequency reuse, increase the capacity for communication systems and realize remote contral.In this paper, the principle of phased annray, the selection of main parameters, and the analysis and design method of phased array is proposed.The compact smart antenna with8elements and the dual-polarization smart antenna are researched. Through the theoretical analysis, simulation and Experimental Study, it disigns a low profile wide-angle scan antenna element and a low profile hign isolation broadband wide-angle scan dual-polarized antenna element. It solved several key technologies such as RF port isolation, cross polarization discrimination of array, beamforming of vertical plane, the calibration network with high precision, miniaturization of the high efficiency feed nerwork, design of the strong and thin-wall radome. The testing rusule proves the performance of the two smart antennas is favorable.At last, the principle of the electrical tilt antenna and the key influential factors of design are proposed. It solved the high precison and high reliability phase shifter with the function of power divide and the integrated design of the feed nerwork and the phase shifter. Optimization to the conversion and contral mode of antenna is given in the end.
