A good destination image is the crucial factor to stimulate the tourists’travel interest to some extent. The purpose of building up image satisfies travelers" learning and good expecting, so the effective image communication could make the destination gain great fortune and intangible property. At the present stage, there are more than100ancient towns which have sightseeing value in China, and30among of them are situated on the south of Yangtze river. Recent years, ancient town sightseeing is welcome, so the ancient town sightseeing routines are become the new favorite in the tourism market. The six most famous ancient towns south of the Yangtze rive (Zhouzhuang/Tongli/Luzhi/Xitang/Wuzhen/Nanxun) are the typical representatives of water town on the south of Yangzi river. In April2011, The six most famous ancient towns south of the Yangtze rive are on the list of "world cultural heritage prepared"During the rapid and booming development of "The six most famous ancient towns south of the Yangtze rive", we also find a lot of problems:serious homogenization for the propaganda/strong business atmosphere/Environmental Pollution/Weak reception ability and so on.Obviously. these problems restrict and threaten the ancient town’s image communication so this essay analyses the problems and offers some suggestions with imagologie/tourism/marketing knowledge for the further development of ancient towns" image building and communication.
