The Frontier and Coast Defense Video Surveillance System using Image Fusion technology is combined with three kinds of imaging detectors, including thermal infrared imager, low light level television and black and white cameras. In this thesis mechanical structure to the front detection system was mainly designed. A general survey of Video Surveillance System in using for Frontier and Coast Defense was introduced firstly. Secondly, Based on the working principle of the system and the features analysis for three kinds of detectors, the components of this video monitoring system was introduced. And then requirements for detection determined the structure of the front mechanical platform.According to the requirements and the particular service conditions for this system, dual axis platform for detectors was designed. Inside the spherical shell for tilt mechanisms, there was an optical bench carrying four different detectors. The details about the selection and design of the bearings and the motor from pitching axis system and position axis system were introduced. Field of view was+25°~25°in vertical direction and±175°in horizontal. The optical-axis parallelism error of the system is less than0.5mrad.The spherical shell, dual axis Platform and the optical bench were analyzed in using the FEM Modal Analysis to make sure that stiffness and strength of the mechanical structure can meet the requirements. Dynamic balance analysis about the tilt mechanisms was firstly made. Following the static analysis about spherical shell was performed. And then the Natural Frequency of the platform was analyzed with the help of ANSYS software to assure that the working conditions was far from the resonating failure. Finally, thermal stress analysis for the optical bench was done to see the deformation caused by temperature factor.In the end of the thesis, experiment of image fusion was done to test the performance of this system. Finally, image quality and system real time testing show that the video image fusion monitoring system can realize all day information monitoring.
