As a full-wave analysis method widely used in the field of computational electro-magnetic, the Finite Element Method in Frequency Domain (FEM) has got better and better development due to its unique advantages in solving partial differential equations. Firstly, we use FEM to discrete the computing domain with tetrahedral cells, and we can get the information of internal nodes and edges, after using suitable basis functions to expand the unknown electric field value, the information of the interaction between the basis functions can be obtained. At last, we will get a global matrix when sorting this information in particular method. Thus we can analyze electromagnetic properties of the entire computing domain after solving this global matrix.Because of the advantages of Finite Element Method in Frequency Domain, it’s particularly suitable for solving problems with complex boundary structure and inhomogeneous media. However, when there are different medium in the calculation region, in order to ensure the accuracy of the final solution to meet the computing requirements, we have to use finer mesh in the area of bigger medium parameter, which would increase the other regions’unknowns invisibly. Therefore, this dissertation proposes a novel improved algorithm to solve some problems with discontinuous structure and get the electromagnetic properties of the calculation area. The core idea of Discontinuous Galerkin Method (DGM) is to additionally process the discontinuous interface which contains discontinuous basis functions and we need to regard the public interface as two separate surface. As a result, on both sides of the interface, we can mesh freely or use different basis functions. Therefore, we will get two different analysis methods to solve such electromagnetic problems which contain discontinuous structure: non-conforming mesh or using different basis functions. It is very obvious that the Discontinuous Galerkin Method is particularly suitable for the non-uniform electromagnetic problems according to the theoretical analysis. Therefore, to deal with those problems, this paper is based on using different basis functions and conforming mesh on both sides of the discontinuous interface, which can achieve the flexibility of the meshing, and we can get good calculation accuracy when using high-order basis functions.
