Video image processing technology developed rapidly in recent decades, as an important part of the research in video image processing field, moving target detection and tracking technology has attracted much attention in recent years. Unquestionable, it will play an important role in the field of industrial control and people’s live.First of all, the history of moving target detection and the development of tracking algorithm is introduced, meanwhile, the application of DSP in video image processing is researched.Secondly, pre-processing of the image and moving target detection are discussed.Image smoothing based on Gaussian modeling, the method to obtain the foreground image by Gaussian mixture modeling, filtering the binary image based morphological, mark the moving target and get the feature information by the method of connected area labeling are discussed separately, the moving target tracking by the mean shift algorithm is analysed particularly.And then, the SEED-DEC6437development board based on the processor of TMS320DM6437launched by the company of SEED, integrated development environment CCS and DSP/BIOS Embedded operating system,is studied, the video processing subsystem—VPSS is analysed deeply.Finally, with the function library supported by TI, the algorithm of moving object detection and tracking system is compiled and transplanted.It is verified that the system is stable and real time by using optimization strategies.
