Predictive control, which is oriented to the actual industrial process control, has been well received the concern of the industrial control sector, with its easy modeling, better control performance, robustness, and handle constraints effectively.Predictive control theory was researched in the paper, including dynamic matrix control and predictive PI control theory, the advantages of these algorithms, as well as the important parameters on system performance. These algorithms were applied on control of two-tank water level. The experiment results indicate that these algorithms have good control quality. The main content is as follows:(1) The principles of predictive control, dynamic matrix control and predictive PI control were analyzed. And the design method of system parameters based on the delay Dynamic Matrix Control was given;(2) The mathematical model of two-tank plant were established by the step response method;(3) The DMC algorithm simulation source code was wrote, and the Simulation results show how the DMC parameters effect on control performance; Dynamic Performance, anti-interference ability and robustness of predictive PI control algorithm were compared with that of several other commonly used control algorithm in the MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation;(4) Predictive PI was applied to control the water level with large time delay used by Siemens S7-300programmable controller ladder language, at the same time water level was monitored through the monitoring configuration software WINCC.
