An Automatic Test System For TETRA Terminal

TETRA is the one of international general trunk communication standard, which adoptsthe TDMA technology, and ETSI shall be responsible for the public and upgrade the standard.The TETRA terminals are widely used for providing reliable communication in the worldsuch as public security, railways, ports, forestry, large-scale activities.In the R&D and production process, testing is an essential link. According to the relevantregulations, any TETRA terminal equipment must obtain a corresponding approval certificateand the requirements of product before leaving factory is doing the whole RF performancetesting according with TETRA standard. And in all the test items，the RF performance is themost important test, and also is a mandatory item in sampling test.The author as the responsible person of the testing team has been working in a companyof researching and producing the TETRA terminal, and has assumed and completed the R&Dwork of the TETRA automatic test system (ATS). Now, the test system has been put into use,and the paper is the sum-up of the development process.Firstly, the paper introduces the development of digital trunk systems such as TETRA,and the automation test theory, and then expatiates on the TETRA RF test items, test methodsand significance. Thirdly, the paper according to the test demand demonstrates the equipmentselection and application, and introduces the design ideas of the automatic test system, thengives the software and hardware design. Finally it discusses the calibration method, andanalyses the measuring results of the TETRA ATS.
