Vehicle mounted DVD player as an appendant of vehicle,is widely used in along with thearisen automobile consumption and the development of vehicle mounted entertainmentsystem. As worked in vibration and high temperature situation, the vehicle mounted DVDplayer must have good playing stability and reliability. Current more and more domesticmanufacturing enterprises are involved in the globalized market competition and influencedby the customer oriented quality culture. Base on systemic collection of the quality defectsexisted in the period of production, usage and maintenance, application of variablemathematical statistical analysis methods and tools to probe the root causes of product defects,making continual improvement of quality and processes, is the necessary condition forenterprise to survive and achieve sustainable development.This article is based on an factual quality improvement case of vehicle mounted DVD player,the quality improvement program was carried out through the application of differentstatistical tools and methods. Based on the collected product nonconformities data, appliedPareto diagram to determine major defects. Through the application of Experiment Design ofTaguchi Method to evaluate each component’s significance to the product defects, to analyzeand determine the component source of major defect. Through the application of Cause andEffect Diagram to analyze the causes related to Man, Machine, Material, Method,Measurement and Environment, which lead to the defects. Through the application of SPC tomonitor the key characteristic and variation of product and processes, to analyze the statusand distance of process capability and quality level. Finally base a series of analysis and studyto the quality defect sources and specific causes, determined and performed a specificimprovement actions, and thus stabilized and gradually improved the manufacturing processcapability and product quality level, reduced the cost loss caused by nonconformities. In thiscase, extended the application of Taguchi experimental design and ANOVA (Analysis ofVariation variance analysis) method, to analyze and evaluate the significance of productcomponents to the final product quality defects, it is a helpful experiment to expand theapplication of Taguchi Method in the analysis of quality defects.
