Since the helix Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs) were invented, the user alwaysfocus on the characters of their broad frequency band. As the Electronic-CounterMeasure(ECM) system updated, the need of expending frequency band of helix TWT ispresented, while the harmonic wave is suppressed. The work composited as followed.The need of super-broad frequency band helix TWT is analyzed for the ECMsystem. The research situation and trend of super-broad frequency band helix TWT arepresented. The question of research these tubes is discussed.The advantages of3D Electronic Magnet software are presented comparing withtraditional analysis method. It is necessary to compute the dispersion and couplingimpedance character using3D EM simulator.Using Micro Tube Simulator Suite2011developed by theory and computersimulation research lab of the University of Electronic Science and Technology ofChina(UESTC), several typical kinds of helix slow wave structure are computed. Theitem of design is needed after choosing an optimum result. The harmonic wave issuppressed.An optimum result is used by making a real TWT. Test result show that theoptimum slow wave structure satisfied the item need. It offer a method to designsuper-broad frequency helix TWTs for the designer of TWTs.
