With the development of era, computer technologies have been used in more and moreareas. They not only changed our live styles, but also changed our minds. Chinese painting isone kind of traditional art forms. How to achieve drawing with computer in real time is also adevelopment tendency. The simulation technologies of Chinese painting help artists shift fromthe traditional painting brush, drawing paper and the pigments. Now they can draw thepaintings everywhere with the computer mouse, electronic brush and even their fingers.Nowadays, many researchers make effort to simulate the watercolor paintings, oilpaintings and so on with computer. And they make great progress. However, in the area ofChinese painting research, because of the unique of the tool material and the complexity ofthe painting brushwork, it is difficult to simulate the Chinese paintings as those paintings. TheChinese paintings are full of cultural deposits with a long history, and it is also a classic artform. So it is a hot topic on simulating them.During the simulation of Chinese painting, water-ink diffusion is an important part forbetter effects. We propose a new method which is based on Ant Colony Optimization tosimulate water-ink diffusion. Meanwhile, Chinese art paper is also important in the simulation.By the characteristic of it, we model it from macroscopic view and microscopic view. Textureis used on Chinese art paper during macroscopic modeling. And the spread, the inkabsorbency and the liquidity of the Chinese art paper are taken into account during themicroscopic modeling.First, we model the diffusion of water-ink particles and the characteristic of Chinese artpaper. And then, we run our project of simulation on VC++6.0, with the OpenGL API. Thisexperiment shows that this is an effective method to achieve Chinese painting in real-timerendering with low system consumption.
