Multi-sensor data fusion technique is an important subject in modern military research which aims at how to utilize information from multiple sensors and other associated sources to obtain more accurate estimation and inference than that from one source. Situation assessment is a key technique for high level processing of data fusion. It is used to distill and analyze the situation elements, recognize the activity patterns, conclude the intentions of enemy and forecast the changes of near future situation base on the level1fusion. Detection of important event and complex event, aeronaval target classification, template matching for plan recognition based on CLIPS and ground force classification is researched and implemented in this paper.First, the situation awareness technique is discussed and the description of the problem is presented. Event is divided into three categories:basic event, important event and complex event. This chapter focuses on the detection method of basic event and important event. Aeronaval target classification base on "nearest-neighbor+template" is proposed to overcome the shortcoming of the nearest neighbor method, the accuracy of classification is improved.Ground force classification and command post recognition is researched, aims at meeting the demand of ground situation analysis. Extraction and presentation of ground situation elements is given, the problem of hard to recognize the command post and force deployment is solved by the military knowledge template. Meanwhile, correlative technologies realized ground force classification is discussed.Situation perception and plan recognition is a weakness of situation assessment. At present, knowledge and experience are mainly used to solve specific problems of situation perception. The problem of situation perception and the basic concepts of plan recognition are presented. Based on the discussion of military plan presentation based on template, plan recognition reasoning algorithm based on template matching is proposed, and the detection of complex event and recognition of military plan are implemented by CLIPS.Finally, two scenes are created to test the algorithms for event detection, target classification, ground force classification and plan recognition.
