Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technology that incorporates the use ofelectromagnetic or electrostatic coupling in the radio frequency (RF) portion of theelectromagnetic spectrum to uniquely identify an object. For its long-distance,high-speed and low-cost, UHF RFID technology has become a hot topic in the RFIDtechnology, and will be a key technology in the future information society construction.According to the application demands, our research mainly focuses on design andimplementation of digital baseband and security strategy based on the ISO/IEC18000-6C international standard.Firstly, this paper gives an analysis to ISO/IEC18000-6C focused on thecommunication at physical layer and the principle of RFID tag system, which guides thedesign of digital baseband.Secondly, the method of BLF (Backscatter Link Frequency) clock provided byanalog front end is introduced in order to resolve the defect of back link frequencydynamic range shortage. The BLF generator can generate backscatter link clock with itsfrequency can be adjusted continuously, according to the values of TRcal and DRspecified in the Query command. Cooperating with the scheme of BLF clock providedby analog front end, this paper designs a novel structure of the digital baseband, andgives out the specific design methods of the key modules. The scale and dynamic powerconsumption of digital baseband in this paper have significantly decreased.Thirdly, two novel security mechanisms have been proposed. One is dual UIImemory bank mechanism, the other is authentification mechanism. The securitymechanisms are compatible with ISO/IEC18000-6C protocol. This paper also introduces the entire process of baseband design andimplementation, including the logic synthesis based on Design Compiler and physicalimplementation based on Astro. The tag chip contains baseband has taped out usingTSMC0.18μm process. In the end, this paper gives the plan of testing as well as the test results of keymodules, and according to the analysis of test results, points out the direction of designtask in the future.
