Many universities at home and abroad have implemented digital management in jewelry specimen for the purpose of improving the condition of the students in Institute of Gemology, enhancing their cognition to jewelry, improving management and research quality and forming a good atmosphere to do research. The informational management system in jewelry specimen which the paper has designed can satisfy the demands of student enquirers, teacher borrowers and the administrators on jewelry specimen.Gemological Institute applied the manual mode to manage jewelry specimen in the past. However, it exists many shortcomings, for example, the information can not be shared effectively and the borrowing procedures are tedious and so on. This system aims at the management of jewelry information and jewelry borrowing. The management of jewelry information bases on basic jewelry information which is associated with the location jewelry information, market information, pictorial information and so on. And it forms a complete network for jewelry information which can make students and teachers to understand the relevant jewelry information comprehensively and accurately. The management of jewelry borrowing bases on the fundamental procedures to borrow and return. It adds many new functions which improve the management efficiency on jewelry borrowing such as the compensation for jewelry damage, text alerting services and so on.The paper applies the method of Unified Process Software Development and starts with the analysis of demand cases from which we can refine the domain model. Basing on the domain model, the paper comes to the system class diagram and database design. And it use process analysis which makes clear the responsibilities of related classes as the auxiliary. The system applies architecture ways on ExtJS+ASP.NET MVC. It not only utilizes the presentation template on ExtJS rich client, but also uses the mature background architecture based on ASP.NET MVC, which provide guarantees for the stable operation in the system.The main composition module of this system includes:the user management module, the jewelry information querying module, the jewelry borrowing/return module, the registration module of jewelry borrowing reservation, the text alerting module and the compensation module for jewelry damage and so on. By combining these modules together, users’ demands on the management of jewelry information is fulfilled.Besides, the paper has detailedly introduced the system’s development environment, the demand analysis, the general design process, the detailed design and the technology and method for system implementations.
